国庆节是一个国家为纪念自己而设立的法定节日。它们通常是国家独立 、宪法签署、国家元首诞生或其他重要纪念日，有些是国家守护神的圣日。National Day is a legal holiday made by a country to commemorate the country itself. They are usually the independence of the country, the signing of the constitution, the birth of the head of state of other significant anniversaries; some are the saint's day of the country's patron saint.

在中国古代，皇帝登基和隆重被 称为“国庆节”。今天，国庆节是指10月1日，中华人民共和国正式成立周年。In ancient China,the emperor's accession to the throne and birth was called" National Day'. Today,the national day of China refers to October 1, the anniversary of the formal establishment of the people's Republic of China.

1949年10月2日，中央人民政府通过《关于中华人民共和国国庆日的决议》，规定每年10月1日为国庆日，并以这一天作为宣告中华人民共和国成立的日子。从此，每年的10月1日就成为全国各族人民隆重欢庆的节日了。In October2, 1949, the Central People's government adopted the "resolution on the national day of People's Republic of China", stipulates theat every October 1st is the national day, and on this day as the date of People's Republic of China's founding. Since then, every year on Oct. 1 to become the grand people of all nationalities to celebrate the festival.
